New version release: GFI FAXmaker 14.3

GFI FAXmaker version 14.3 (build 20081120) has been released and is available for download.

New Features in GFI FAXmaker 14.3:

  • Ability to configure sending lines for users and groups.
  • Consistent filenames for faxes across all archiving locations.
  • Improved fax quality especially when sending scanned images.
  • Support for new fax modems (Multitech 9xxx series, Comtrol Rocketmodem IV)
  • Support for new GSM modems (Multitech MTCBA-G-F4, Westermo GDW-11)
  • Support for Unicode SMS.

Fixes in GFI FAXmaker 14.3:

  • Coverpage may be populated incorrectly when sending to a public contact whose name or company contain dots.
  • Coverpage configured in GFI FAXmaker Client is ignored and the default is used instead.
  • Faxes may not be processed in the same order as they are submitted.
  • Faxes submitted via NetPrintQueue2Fax are sent with normal resolution, not fine.
  • GFI FAXmaker Monitor may crash if a large number of faxes are currently being processed in the queue (over 1000).
  • Service restart is no longer required when adding a licensed user or a routing rule.
  • Troubleshooter in GFI FAXmaker Client does not run.
  • Using Microsoft Fax Service on Microsoft Windows 2008 with GFI FAXmaker may not work.
  • When using Class 1 modems, sent faxes may be truncated.

Installation Requirements:

  1. If installing on Microsoft IIS SMTP (x86), Microsoft Exchange Server 2000, or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, then Microsoft IIS with SMTP Service installed is required.
  2. If installing on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Exchange 2007 Hub Transport Server Role must be present.

Known Issues:

  1. Due to certain changes, the SFM (Server Fax Message) files produced by this version of GFI FAXmaker are not compatible with the ones of the previous versions. Therefore, when upgrading existing installations of GFI FAXmaker versions 12 and 14.X ensure that there are no outstanding fax jobs.
  2. NetPrintQueue2Fax on Windows 2000 does not support Unicode.
