Note: GFI LANguard 9.0 is currently in BETA and therefore the information provided below is not final and subject to change.

GFI LANguard 9.0, the latest version of GFI’s award winning security scanning and patch management solution, has the following key features:

  • Auto-Remediation for Microsoft Security Patches: Apart from automatically downloading missing Microsoft security updates, GFI LANguard 9.0 can also automatically deploy the missing Microsoft Security patches or service-packs at the end of scheduled scans.

  • Dashboard: The new Dashboard provides a single location where the user can see all the active and scheduled operations such as scans, remediation operations and updates history. The dashboard also gives an overview of the current network security status and vulnerability trends across time.

  • Detection of Virtual machines:  GFI LANguard can now identify whether a scanned machine is a physical or virtual machine. GFI LANguard 9.0 supports VMware and Microsoft Virtual PC.

  • Extended Hardware Auditing:  GFI LANguard can now retrieve an extended set of hardware information including memory, processors, display adapters, storage devices, motherboard details, printers, etc.

  • Improved Reporting Experience: Executive reports are now available directly from within GFI LANguard.

  • Python Scripting: Apart from VB script and SSH, custom vulnerability checks can now also be defined in Python language.

  • Revamped User Interface: The new UI logically groups the main GFI LANguard functions so the user will find it easier and faster to access the various program functions.  The UI flow was split into tabs that guide the user through the Scan, Analyze and Remediate options.

  • Remote Desktop:  When browsing through scan results, GFI LANguard 9.0 conveniently offers the option to open a Remote desktop connection with any target computer at the click of a button. This will make life easier for the administrator who wishes to manually remediate some issue on a remote machine.

  • Scan Progress Reporting: All errors encountered during a scan are now centralized so the users can instantly identify on which machines the scan failed and for what reason. During a scan the user will also get an estimation of the time remaining for the scan to complete.  This is very useful when scanning larger networks or machines distributed across locations.

  • Unauthorized Applications: Apart from reporting on all installed applications, GFI LANguard 9.0 also allows the user to define a list of applications that are not authorized to be installed on the network. During a scan these applications will be identified and (optionally) uninstalled automatically by GFI LANguard.
