Methods of sending faxes in GFI FAXmaker

GFI FAXmaker allows the submitting of faxes using various methods. Mainly, faxes can be sent in two ways: 

  1. By sending faxes through an email client or using the GFI FAXmaker FAX message form.
  2. By using applications/devices which connect directly to the GFI FAXmaker server.


Sending faxes using a client

The various methods which can be used to send faxes from a client are documented as follows:

  • Sending from the GFI FAXmaker FAX Message Form.
    This is the preferred method of sending faxes, since it allows the user to specify fax specific options. More information on this method can be found in the GFI FAXmaker client documentation.
     
  • Sending to an Outlook contact.
    This method can be used when sending a fax from Outlook with Exchange. The fax number is retrieved from the contact’s Business Fax field. More information about this can be found in the GFI FAXmaker User manual under the sections ‘Sending faxes & sms from Microsoft Outlook’.
     
  • Sending using one off addressing with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange
    This method can also be used when sending a fax from Outlook with Exchange. In this case the fax number is specified by the user rather then retrieved from a contact.   • Sending to <number>@faxdomain
    This method can be used with any SMTP mail server, including Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes, which supports forwarding mails to a foreign domain. More information about this can be found in the knowledge base article KBID002633 
     
  • Sending using an alias.
    This method can be used when sending using any standard SMTP clients. More information about this can be found in the knowledge base article KBID002634 
     
  • Sending to fax@domain
    This method can be used with any mail server. In this case, the message is addressed to the GFI FAXmaker mailbox while the fax number is specified in the body of the fax. More information about this can be found in the knowledge base article KBID002635
