After upgrading to MailSecurity version 8.1 (VSAPI mode), I am getting “Can’t Open Item” error message when I try to access my emails.

This problem may occur if a Windows COM object is not registered. Perform the following to register the Windows COM object:

  1. Go to Start -> Run
  2. Type “regedit” and press Enter.
  3. Browse to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0000000C-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
  4. Change the Default Value to “IStream”
  5. Browse to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0000000C-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\NumMethods]
  6. Change the Default Value to “14”
  7. Browse to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0000000C-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\ProxyStubClsid32]
  8. Change the Default Value to “{00000320-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}”
  9. Close Regedit
  10. Restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service.
