An issue has been identified in GFI MailSecurity version 8 build 20030616. After installing this build in VSAPI mode (on the same machine as Exchange 2000), some or none of the users will be able to access emails from their Outlook Client. The following error message will be given when the user tries to open an Outlook message: "Can't Open Item"
A new MailSecurity build (20030617) has been released to solve this problem. However the group functionality will be lost in the MailSecurity configuration.
This new build affects the following functionality:
Content Checking
Attachment Checking
In the MailSecurity configuration you can specify a Active Directory group to apply the scanning condition to a group of users. With this new build checking on user groups will not work and hence (if you are using user based checking) you will need to specify each of the users directly rather than the group itself.
The groups issue introduced by MailSecurity build 20030617 will be addressed in the next build of MailSecurity.
